Happy Tails
We at HALT love the feeling we get when we place one of our special rescue dogs in their forever home. It is great to know that these dogs are finally getting all the love they deserve. It is even better when we get to hear about how life is going for these pups in their new homes. We love getting pictures and hearing the great stories of the new family. Check out some of "Happy Tails". And remember, if you adopt a HALT dog, we are always happy to hear how everything is going, so don't be shy!
Remi
Remi is the dog formally known as Dixie at H.A.L.T. rescue. She had been taken to an animal shelter by her owner that no loner wanted to take care of her and her soon to be pups. Remi was rescued by H.A.L.T.; whose team cared for her and her puppies, who unfortunately all died due to a genetic disorder they carried. My family adopted Remi on October 10, 2010. Within hours she herself at home. Within days she was a part of our family. And now Remi and our Labrador mix, Ruger, are inseparable. They play together, eat together, and sleep together.Remi and Ruger fill their day with trips to the dog park, hiking, sleeping, and playing in water when the weather is warm. Remi has adapted to our lifestyle beautifully. She thrives on positive re-enforcement and was easily trained. We couldn't imagine our home without her. She has truly completed our family. We are very thankful for H.A.L.T. rescue for saving her from the shelter and because they did, my family has the sweetest, most entertaining dog duo imaginable.
During Rio's time at HALT, he was named Hitch. Rio has found his forever home though, and his new mom loves to tell stories, take pictures, and share this awesome dog with the world. Check out Rio's very own blog at www.mydogrio.info
Digby
Digby was a sweet old pup who got his second chance at life with a retired school teacher. He is now living the life of luxury. Check out this cool story that was inspired by Digby. ("Colonel Digby's Resistance" is on page 8)
Gypsi
Gypsi was known as Gidget during her times at HALT. She was adopted out by a woman as a birthday gift for her husband. At HALT, we always encourage adopting as a way to save a life. But in Gypsi's case, she was the life saver. Read this wonderful story about how Gypsi became a hero.
"We adopted a puppy named Gidget but changed it to Gypsi. She was a birthday present for my husband. He is a Truck Driver and wanted a dog. I don't know what drove me to look at the dogs and puppies that were in Tehachapi but I did. Me and my Son fell in love with Gypsi and had to get my husband to see her. He also fell in love with her and we took her home. Since then she has been on the truck with my husband driving through many states. One night they were at a truck stop in Las Vegas. They were asleep for about 3 hours and Gypsi woke up my husband by pawing him and barking. My husband woke up and could not breath. The A/C broke while they were sleeping and the cab was 125 degrees. If it was not for Gypsi they would of found my husband dead. She is a HERO!!! We love her so much. We took her to the Vet and she is fine. So is my husband, thanks to Gypsi. Thank you H.A.L.T. (and Gypsi) for being at the right place at the right time. She is our little hero and my husband's best friend."
